Vor der Morgenröte [Before Dawn / Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe] is a 2016 film which looks back on the life of exiled author Stefan Zweig. It portrays "the years of exile of the famous German writer, his inner struggle for the 'right attitude' towards the events in World War II Germany, and his search for a home in the new world". The screenplay was written by Maria Schrader and Jan Schomberg and directed by Maria Schrader. The major cast members: Josef Hader as Stefan Zweig; Barabara Sukowa as Friderike Maria Zweig; and Aenne Schwarz as Lotte Zweig. The film is available in German, French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish. It was released in Germany on 2 June 2016 and lasts 1 hour and 46 minutes. It was produced by the X-Filme Creative Pool, the Idéale Audience, and the Maha Productions.
