The Egyptian journalist compares the catastrophe brought on Germany by political irrationalism in the first half of the twentieth century with a similar irrationalism as propagated by political Islam in Egypt and the Arab world at large. He takes his starting point from Stefan Zweig's autobiography "Die Welt von Gestern. Erinnerungen eines Europäers", where Zweig describes the tragic consequences of the political fanaticism of his own times. Although the author does not specify the edition of Zweig's biography he relies on, it is probably one of the two Arabic translations thereof
