Although the announced research project "Grande Vuere" [Great War] deals with World War I and its consequences for the Italian province of Friuli Venezia Giulia and, therefore, it might in a strict sense not be counted under secondary literature about Stefan Zweig and his oeuvre, nevertheless, the motto of the project is a quotation taken from the Die Welt von Gestern. Erinnerungen eines Europäers and rendered into the Friulian language, thereby documenting the moral weight and cultural impact Stefan Zweig's autobiography wields in the assessment of World War I on a global level in a multitude of language communities, in this case the Friulian-speaking region Friuli Venezia Giulia of north-eastern Italy
